Mindful Solstice Ritual

The Summer solstice was last friday – the 21st June.  It marks the mid-point between the year and offers us time to pause, celebrate, reflect and set intentions for the coming 6 months.  It is also a fabulous time to immerse into a summer detox – which I have just completed.  During the cleanse I found myself writing this mindful solstice ritual which I think you will enjoy.

You can focus your attention on the format the ritual has offered or focus it on your fertility journey.  What I would suggest is that you read my full article and watch my video before attempting the ritual.

Mindful fertility solstice ritual focus

This ritual is a form of mindfulness.  We are focusing on  releasing the past 6 months – trauma, negativity or maybe the last months have been super positive for you – you may have completed your pre-pregnancy cleanse; identified fertility concerns; researched assisted conception procedures or  received the results of your functional tests. Maybe you are nearing the end of your fertility journey, either with a successful pregnancy or possibly acceptance that is is time to release this chapter of your life.

Once you have completed the past we focus on the coming 6 months: Where are you going with your fertility journey?  Maybe you are going to concentrate on your conception window, increasing sperm health, recovery from assisted conception. Perhaps you are going to include regular  fertility massage;  reflexology or healing?  What about your nutritional status?  Are you looking at surrogacy, adoption, fostering or overseas clinic support?

Mindful Solstice Ritual

Before we begin it is super important to prepare your space.  Turn your phone off, make sure you are not going to be disturbed and get a piece of paper, pen, colouring pencils or paints or whatever helps you be creative.  This mindful solstice practice takes about 20-30 minutes plus either of the mindful meditations practice beforehand or some fertility yoga .  Prepare your room and apply some Creation essence .

Mindful Meditation  1.  Just Breathe

Get into a comfortable position, ideally with your spine straight.

Close your eyes.  Take deep, slow breaths. Become aware of the sensation of air flowing in and out of your lungs.

Stay like this, in the present moment, experiencing your body and the world around you, without your mind drifting into abstractions.

When you feel calm begin your solstice ritual (see below)

Mindful meditation 2: Be Peaceful

Thich Nhat Hahn offers this short mindful meditation in his book Being Peace:

“Breathing in, I calm my body. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment, I know this is a wonderful moment.”

Sitting calmly, consider this verse and then repeat it to yourself  with intention daily.  You can repeat the mantra as many times as you feel right for you.  Remember to pause and breathe between each mantra.  I would suggest you begin with 7 repetitions daily and work up to 21.  Use carnelian and moonstone crystal mantra bracelet to count the repetitions if you like.  Alternatively you can use this month’s mantra – just change the word you to “I”
